Well it's another new year and life is just one
big roller coaster and learning circle!
The weather has been a bit up and down since October
, but summer is on its way I'm sure about that.
The shop is just starting to see a few more old
faces and new ones and everybody has been having
fun. Well I say that but you always get a few people
that don't know how to smile. :) The fishing bums
that I know too well have started to descend and
most nights I've had smelly socks left at the door
as I now have a large selection of slipper for them
all to wear. Some of them scream when they put as
they are so used to having constant wet feet and
they cant bear the warm sensation of the camo
slippers.
Chris and Dan, Paula, Brooke, Simon, Max have
been helping keep the rocking sounds on in the shop
and its always great to have happy people around who
can dance better than me. The Sexy Loop sock army
have also landed in NZ, with more to follow and its
good to always hear the stories of strange fish
caught from around the world , beer that's been
sampled and new gear that's about to be released and
girls that have been kissed!
Paul (Mr Sock) and Ronan (one angry chap) last
year got in tow with a production company headed by
Carl McNeil (bumcast) and filmed the pilot for a
series for SKY TV called FISH THIS. I've now seen it
and I rate it, its fun and should be a huge hit so
look out for it on SKY TV. I hope it works out for
all the people involved. Sexyloops have also just
released another great chaotic man fishing DVD
called the revolution which
you can get from there web site
www.sexyloops.com
.
These last few months I gave an interview about
my flies etc on the blog of
www.thisisfly.com
which is a cutting edge free web magazine out of the
states. They have also just did a feature with
photos in the dec issue on the shop, which just goes
to show ,that this little shop in the middle of
nowhere is now known throughout the world. Check out
the free mag at
www.thisisfly.com The shop is now nearly
finished and the feed back has been great and
everybody thinks its a fishermans/womans paradise,
with all the goodies and information its stocked and
displayed with.
I now have even more Sage rods than before with
the TCX being my favorite rod for casting and
fishing with. Its replaced the TCR casting stick and
its a rod I would say is more suited to most casting
and fishing situations. I now due to my work load
and not getting any fishing time for myself cast
this rod every morning when I walk to get my post as
I don't have a dog and its good for me to keep my
casting hand in for my casting demos and lessons and
I rate it as the best new rod available at the
moment ,but not for everybody.
I've been kept busy since the start of the season
helping people with their casting with my new
improved one and a half hour casting lessons as well
as my guiding. I'll have some new bright orange fly
lines for casting practice called the dogs balls
(yip that's what the guy has called them from
Aussie).
The rivers have all been in top shape here in
southland and all of them having great conditioned
fish in them. Mostly due to the weather pattern the
fish have been taken by my clients on small very
heavy tungsten nymphs but that's about to change!
Hopefully the weather pattern changes and it will
not be long before its brown beetle mania in the
mornings and evenings and green beetle mania on the
lakes. The cicadas have just started to chirp this
week quite loud and there is plenty of blowflies
buzzing around, I know it will not take long before
the trout find these tasty morsels on the surface
and the fishing becomes quite easy compared to
upstream nymphing.
Well if its cutting edge flies your after, a new
sage rod & reel, A new fish pond pack/vest, waders,
new wading boots, fishing glasses, NZ fishing gifts
or a casting lesson. You know where to stop :)
Oh! and check out the online shop to see the new
funky fly fishing shirts and t-shirts etc, support
the cause ,buy from somebody driven by sheer passion
and living the dream!

If you are looking for Quality, look no further we have it all!
Thanks to everybody for there great support and fun
and laughter and to the miserable people who make us
all smile. :)
Keep on living! And stay happy :)
Cheers
