Good Day All!

Well, its been a pretty interesting full on  year, with plenty going on  in the guiding industry and at the fly shop.

The season in these parts has just finished at the end of April and my clients that came in April for the mayfly activity were not disappointed with, as usual, plenty of mayfly activity. Nearly every day I was guiding in April the fly that took the most fish was my wee  Stu's NZ Spent Spinner, as you can see from the photo is got the right profile to win the trout over.

Spent mayfly spinners can be found all over the world- try using a Stu's NZ spent spinner!

But for the shop side of things business was a mini disaster in April for the full month, with no fishermen or tourists around to warrant opening the doors everyday. So due to this years down turn of trade I got busy with the good old hammer and paint brush  and the visions I've had for years have started to come to reality.

Out came the old wooden windows and in went some sexy new windows, to let more light into the shop. Also along the front wall I covered it in baby iron, to also look funky and brighten the inside of the shop up.

Out with the old and in with the new!

Soon also some new cool funky blinds will be installed which are being made by the legendary  Athol Sewing queen Kylie (not that she knows she is) and yes - I have decided to go all out and Hawaiian and funky with the material, hopefully it will just add to the wee happy fly shop it is.

At the start of the year I brought you the sexy fence  now  the - sexy window.

There is in the industry a huge shortage of size 16 Tiemco hooks at the moment and that means when I sell out of size 16 flies.  It may be a while before I have plenty more for you, so check out the Superior fly range.

Another interesting thing is that the fashion industry has gone feather daft and even the wholesalers are nearly out of feathers and the guys who rear the best chooks for the best feathers can't keep up. So looks like it will be at least a year before the chook(chicken-cockerels) guys get back on top of it and rear even more chooks to keep up with the feather demand-  some one says it all started with a lady wearing some on Pop  Idol (I wonder if her dad was a fly tier?.)

The new Tarpon DVD - TAPAM!  winter fish porn , entertainment .

Another first from Stu's fly shop - two weeks ago,  the new slick Tarpon DVD arrived in from Europe and I'm sure you will all love it.- I've been watching the development and the trailers of this DVD for over a year now. Its about two fishing bums searching out a remote area in South America and catching Tarpon from float tubes. Some fishing entertainment at its best - Check it out - TAPAM its called. I have limited stock until next season.

I have also in the clearance section of the web site got some more great bargains that also include some good mixed  fly packs that work out to about a dollar NZ per fly.

As you all know this shop is seasonal and I'm busy working behind the scenes on some other projects that I'm sure you will all enjoy and feel the passion for when you see them, hopefully next season.

The online shop may be closing for winter at the start of June so if your thinking of stocking up on some of the best gear or Superior flies, I would appreciated if you could make your orders soon.

Oh! here's a photo of a trout I've seen for about 7 yrs, that a few clients have spooked and have not caught as he was very wary. This year I managed to catch him - one cast -long leader and a single killer nymph - and as I was tying on the nymph I was shaking with excitement - that's when I knew I still have that fishing passion! Hopefully I'll  never lose it - turning my passion into my wee business.

7 yrs and worth the wait and the shakes! - sorry clients, I could not resist having a go at him. :)

Thank you all for your great support, its really appreciated, Happy to be more than just an online shop!

Cheers, Stu
