I hope you are all well and healthy! Thank you all for your summer support from all over the world!

The nights are getting shorter here and its pitch black now at 6am and does not get light until 7am. I've just got my first load of fire wood in last week and I do have to admit that I've had to light the fire twice since, but I think one of the nights was just because I had wood and like flames!

As you can imagine there are not too many insects around at night time, but during the hot sunny days my clients are catching trout on cicadas, extra hi-viz mayflies and even yesterday two 3.5lb trout on my wee foam floating willow grub pattern. One client commented that she could not believe the trout would eat such a pomfrite (small chip) of a fly over a juicy large cicada! (cheeseburger)

The rivers are all pretty low and as well as surface action, today for example my client caught 4 nice fish, biggest 5lb, out of one shallow riffle with a double nymph rig and trailing wee nz mayfly nymph in the Mataura river.

As you can see from the great photo, even Aliens can catch big fish on my flies, This Alien landed not too far from my shop from the USA and and used a thin beam of light attached to a size 16 Stus new Zealand killer nymph to fool this beauty!!

The mouse plague has withered away and I've been talking to a few fly fishing film makers and they have all had the best big fish footage in years-big super fat juicy cuddly trout! - so expect jaw dropping footage to come out on DVD soon from them.

The shop has had to be closed during the day more than normal, due to no staff in this big city. So anybody thats came to closed doors, sorry but there is only one of me and i have to guide to support the shop. But overall the shop has had more than the normal amount of shoppers and tire kickers in Jan and Feb

The shop also managed a mention in the - NEW YORK TIMES!!- "Stus fly shop sells a wide assortment of fly fishing tackle and provides good advice"!! So I reckon its on its way to its claim of being world famous!! :) If the NEW YORK TIMES promotes the wee Orgasmic shack shop!! Don't you? :)

The shop will also be closed for a few days at the start of April for Easter 1st,2nd,3rd 4th as I'm taking it too the big air show at Wanaka- Warbirds Over Wanaka.

I've also added a few new fly designs/hoodies, t-shirts to the range and a few more will follow, so check out the web site remember that the shop will be closing just for the winter at the end of May.

New Orgasmic 2010 T-shirts and Warm-Hoodies

So if you want to get a pile of the top selling Bionic Eggs and some Mayfly Bombs and other Superior flies, get in quick for your winter or summer fishing needs.

Hope you are all eating well just like the trout have on the mice here in NZ !! Till the April news letter, all of you have a great March!

Cheers Stu
