Well guys, I arrived back a few days ago and its all go, my vehicles are all broken down and need repaired and the shops getting another new look for this coming season as well as all the other stuff I need to get done- where are those magic fairies when you need them!

After four months of hibernation although they were pleased to see me,
the landrover and bike did not want to start and I've decided it must be
great to have new things that work !! :)

The Sun’s been out and it’s been a very dry winter. The rivers are all clear and pretty low. I’ve had a quick look at the Upper Mataura River behind my shop and as usual there are plenty of 3-4lb wild brown trout milling around they were feeding on caddis larvae mainly. If this weather pattern keeps up I think the brown beetles will be out late October this year instead of late November. The farmers are all complaining about the low water levels and lack of rain for their crops but I think we will get some top up rain within the next few weeks and we’ll all be happy. But I do like low water levels as it’s easier to locate the fish, I feel.

I looked over bridge expecting to see some pre-spawning trout but alas just this guy
out from his camper-van having a wash - a pity it was not a lovely lady! :)

Hopefully I’ll get the carpet down in the shop and all the new fishing goodies on the shelves and photos , prints on the walls and be open within the next 5 days for anybody that may cruise past in need of some top quality gear or just a fishy chat :) Remember to check out the DVD range - I have the biggest range in NZ and Australia with a heap more great DVDs arriving any day now and trout slippers!!
